New in Avo: Set up Inspector via Rudder or PostHog, clickable changes & more!

Hi Avo community!

It’s spring cleaning season here at Avo HQ. In the past month or so we’ve been focused on fighting bugs and shipping some exciting feature requests from y’all ✨🧹✨

Keep scrolling for updates on what we’ve been shipping ⛵️

Connect Inspector in minutes with RudderStack and PostHog integrations

If you already send data to RudderStack, PostHog or Segment you can now let the Inspector analyze and identify issues in your event tracking without any code changes.

Here you can learn more about how these integrations are configured:

Open items directly from the review screen

When reviewing changes on a branch you sometimes want to pop into an event, property or a metric to make a quick adjustment, or dig deeper into the changes being made. Now you can click on changed items on the branch review screen and interact with the selected item in the side drawer 🎉

Speed up your data design workflow by duplicating similar events 📑

A lot of times, the events you are creating are similar to an event which you’ve already defined and it would be pretty nice to have a copy/paste function of sorts. The duplicate event feature lets you create a replica of an existing event and take it from there. Available on our Team plan and upwards but you can also give it a go with a trial!

Filters filtering 🔎

It might sound recursive, but wouldn’t it be nice to be able to filter the filters? 😅 We’ve added some search to the filters in the events sheet, enabling you to find the filters you need more efficiently. We also applied this to when you’re adding a category to an item.

Other bug fixes and improvements

Publishing and exporting

  • Triggers are now included in all publishing integrations. Now you can access your trigger details in your downstream schema registry, learn more
  • Pinned props are now included in the CSV export
  • Full object property definitions are now included in the JSON Schema publishing and export

Avo.app

  • Now you can define event triggers before you add sources to the event
  • “Sign in with SSO” option now presented directly on the login screen
  • All menus now appear correctly in view hierarchies, and you can click anywhere outside to dismiss them
  • Improved how pinned properties are shown in the event details view
  • Fixed a bug where destinations were not being filtered correctly
  • Fixed a bug causing an empty drawer to stick around after archiving event
  • Fixed a bug where some source types weren’t able to be chosen when creating a source
  • Fixed a bug where destination configuration on events caused duplicate sources to show up in diff view
  • Added an in-app checklist for the Team trial, to make sure you don’t miss a thing

Inspector

Avo Functions

  • Fixed a bug where a missing required schema property on events sent to Snowplow threw an unexpected 401
  • Fixed a bug in the Snowplow destination interface
